No going back on indirect primary - Ogun APC

The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, said there was no going back on its adoption of the indirect primary option to elect its candidates for the 2019 general election.

This was disclosed by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Wole Elegbede, while reacting to a statement credited to the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the party, Yekinni Nabena.

Nabena was quoted to have spoken on a Rock City FM programme in Abeokuta earlier today that ''The Ogun APC cannot set examination questions for itself and mark same. The position of the NWC is clear on the mode of primaries to be used in choosing candidates. Where Consensus fails, direct primary is the only way forward''

The statement went viral as supporters of an Ogun East aspirant, Dapo Abiodun, shared it on all available social media platforms.

But in his brief reaction to the statement, the Ogun APC spokesperson, Elegbede said:

"This is false information. It's the handiwork of mischief makers. There is no going back on the indirect primary option. Our resolution to adopt indirect primary followed the due process and it's in conformity with APC constitution."
