Amosun absent as Tinubu, others receive Osoba back to APC

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State was conspicuously absent today when a former governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba, was received back into the All Progressives Congress, APC, by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Channelstv.com reports that leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday met to receive Osoba back into their fold at his residence in Lagos State.

The party leaders present were former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, former Governor of Ogun State, Bisi Akande, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Oluranti Adebule, who represented the Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode.

Amosun was not present at the event, neither did he send a representative.

It was not sure if any of the APC chieftains in Ogun State attended the occasion.

Amosun's absent at the event might be confirming the rumour that he and his group were not happy with Osoba's return to the party.

Mr Osoba left the defunct ACN after a party infighting which took him and his supporters to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2015 general elections.

He was reported to have vowed not to ever have anything to do with Amosun who he said hijacked the party from him and favoured only those who are loyal to him (Amosun).

He is seen as one of the SDP founders.

Mr Osoba was elected on two different occasions as Governor of Ogun State; first from January 1992 until November 1993 on the platform of the SDP.
He and others were removed from office by the administration of General Sani Abacha on 17 November 1993.

After the return to democracy in 1999, he was elected again as Governor of Ogun State on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), holding office between May 1999 and May 2003.
