In their efforts to make sure Ogun workers comply with the ongoing strike action in the state, two Ogun union leaders had been arrested by the Ogun State police command.
The union leaders were said to have been arrested yesterday at the secretariat in Okemosan, Abeokuta, while trying to make sure no worker resume duties. The arrest was said to have been carried out based on the directives of the state government.
Workers in all sectors in Ogun had embarked on strike since Monday to press home their demands, which include payment of their deductions among others.
As at the time of filing this report, hospitals, schools, local government secretariats, ministries, departments and agencies of Ogun state government are under lock and key.
Workers said they were not ready to have any negotiations with the government, saying government should pay their deductions, allowances, gratuities and fulfill all other previous agreements.
Meanwhile, the state government, through its secretary, Taiwo Adeoluwa, had said "no work, no pay", describing the strike action as illegal.
Report has it that government had directed all Permanent Secretaries and Directors to take attendance of those coming to work, as the striking ones would be dealt with.
But workers said they remained unperturbed with the threat coming from the government as they said "no pay, no work".
