Leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun State have given Hon. Adekunle Akinlade their blessings to jostle for the state's governorship post in 2019.
Political bigwigs in the state including the Agoro of Egbaland, Chief Doja Adewolu; the former Chairman of Ogun APC, Chief Bello Olaotan and a host of others, received the lawmaker at the state's APC secretariat in Abeokuta on Saturday, giving him the go-ahead to run for the coveted seat.
Akinlade, who is currently the lawmaker representing Yewa South and Ipokia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives had visited the secretariat amidst pomp and pageantry, to inform party leaders of his ambition.
The APC secretariat turned a Mecca of sort as party faithfuls from across the state trooped out to declare supports for the Agosasa-born politician.
There were also people from the Eastern and Northern parts of the country at the occasion, singing and dancing to cheer up a man they believe so much in.
In the same vein, traditional rulers as well as indigenes of Akinlade's constituency also rose in their supports for their 'son'.
He pledged to respect the party's decision as well as that of the incumbent Gov Ibikunle Amosun on who becomes the party's guber candidate in 2019; adding that he and other contestants are brothers.
Triple A, as he is fondly addressed, commended Gov. Amosun for taking a bold step in declaring his supports for Ogun West - the only zone that has not produced a governor since the state was created 41 years ago.
He promised to sustain the rebuilding mission of Gov. Amosun and also extend same to the nooks and crannies of the state.
"Gov. Amosun has laid a good and solid foundation, the next thing is for us to build good structures on it." Akinlade spoke.
