Come and audit our accounts, Ipokia LG Chairman, Akeem Fagbemi dares critics

Hon. Akeem Fagbemi

Chairman, Ipokia Local Government Transition Committee, Hon Akeem Fagbemi, has called on any interested persons to come and probe the local government's account statement since he took over few months ago.

There were allegations that Fagbemi and his vice, Mrs Adebare Arojo, had been at loggerheads with each other over a missing N15m internally generated revenue from December 2015 to Febuary 2016.

It was learnt that Arojo as well as other members of the transition committee were angry with the chairman, who they accused of conniving with top career officers of Ipokia LG Secretariat to siphon money without giving them their shares of Ipokia's cake.

But in an exclusive interview, Hon. Fagbemi informed that everything said against him were untrue and unfounded, saying it might be the work of mischief makers.

He said: "They are lying. Where do we get the N15m from? I tell you, if the council has N2m, we will be happy. Adoodo/Ota has the highest IGR, but not up to N15m. Even the last administration cannot boast of such IGR.

"If I am embezzling the council's fund, everybody in Ipokia would feel it and they would say it. Don't mind liars.

"Let them go to the auditing office for enquiries. They may also write to the state to come and audit our accounts."

The chairman also added that some people close to him might be the one spreading false allegations against him.

I know some who are close to me might be responsible for this. That's their problem. If they have proofs, let them go to Abeokuta and report.

"Let them go to the auditing office for enquiries. They may also write to the state to come and audit our accounts.

"Thank God we have the Audit Department and the state can equally audit us. So I have nothing to hide." Fagbemi added.
