The Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Saturday married a new wife, Wuraola Otiti, a daughter of the families of Obanor and Obayuwana, in Benin City.
The reception of the traditional wedding held at the Edo Hotel at No 4, Okada Avenue in GRA, Benin City, Edo State.
The royal father did not attend the wedding physically. He was represented by his father and uncle, both of whom led guests from Osun State and other places to Benin City.
Many people wonder why groom would decide to be absent at his own wedding.
But a source told our correspondent that, Ooni, as a foremost traditional ruler would not attend such an event.
According to the source, wedding rites might request the groom to prostrate, bend of do other similar things before his inlaws. He said it would be an abomination for a king to do such things in Yoruba land, especially the Ooni.
He included that Oba Ogunwusi was only protecting Yoruba customs and traditions by not attending his own wedding.
